Discover Yourself Wellness Center is a premier medical practice where comprehensive services to promote all aspects of general health are provided. We have a primary focus in health and behavioral psychology. Health psychology is the study of psychological and behavioral processes in health, illness, and healthcare. It is concerned with understanding how psychological, behavioral, and cultural factors contribute to physical health and illness. Psychological factors can affect health directly and we’ve learned through years of practice, it often does.

The concept of intersectionality represents the many different layers of social stratification that can combine to disadvantage people. This includes factors like race, sexual orientation, social class, age, disability, and gender. Expanding on this concept, researchers describe the intersectional points as the matrix of domination, with vectors of oppression and privilege.

Health is shaped by a multidimensional overlapping of an array of demographics factors that can’t be overlooked. All aspects of a person’s experience should be explored. We think intersectionality is useful to consider in general and also with respect to mental wellness and mental illness stigma, and it helps to explain the diversity of our experiences.

We’re dedicated to creating an open and inclusive organization that welcomes and reflects diversity of all kinds. Our integrated team of medical and behavioral health providers collaborate in efforts to provide the most effective care for our clients. We also have a strong network of contacts to other medical and support specialties. We are happy to help facilitate referrals for our clients when the need arises. By taking a multicultural perspective with our clients, we pride ourselves in making progress in reducing barriers to effective treatment and care.
